Bundaberg's bumper March
17 April 2018
The Port of Bundaberg is going from strength to strength, with six ships recorded at berth during March to date.
It is more than three times the usual trade traffic, with the Port averaging 1 to 2 ships a month over the past 10 years.
Port of Bundaberg Manager Jason Pascoe says more than 106,000 tonne of product was handled.
“Raw sugar and molasses accounted for the bulk of throughput at the Port of Bundaberg in March,” Mr Pascoe said.
“Silica sand and wood pellet exports were also well represented, with the products showing positive signs of growth.”
One of the shipments was an imported load of gypsum bound for the Knauf plasterboard facility, which has been a positive contributor to the Port’s trade growth since coming online last year.
GPC is confident the Port of Bundaberg’s positive trade trend will continue throughout 2018.
