Maintenance work begins for East Shores Stage 1B
28 July 2017
Gladstone Ports Corporation (GPC) will commence initial works on East Shores Stage 1B from next week.
Maintenance work on the Rock Bund wall, between the HMAS Gladstone and Patsy Lee Place, will begin on Wednesday 2 August and is anticipated to take 3 months.
GPC Chairman, Leo Zussino said this was a significant milestone for the project which received approval earlier this year.
“In February when Premier Anastasia Palaszczuk announced funding for the project we stated works would commence in the second half of 2017,” he said.
“This initial maintenance work signals the beginning of the project which will, in its completion, include the development of an Interpretative Centre, a waterfront café, a revamped and much larger Patsy Lee Place fishing platform and a cruise passenger interface.
“Stage 1B of East Shores will extend on the existing award winning East Shores parklands.”
The area impacted by these works is currently not accessible by the community however GPC ask that those visiting the parklands be mindful of works being undertaken.
