New coal wagon delivery
2 March 2018
Cranes hovered over Auckland Point Terminal last week, as a vessel carrying new coal wagons was unloaded over two nights.
The 43 coal wagons - weighing 21 ton apiece - arrived on board MV Fortune, ready to help service Queensland’s resource sector.
Gladstone Ports Corporation CEO Peter O’Sullivan said it highlights the diverse range of cargo able to be handled at the Port of Gladstone.
“Our terminals are well equipped to handle a range of products and materials, ranging from containers to locomotives and coal to calcite”, Mr O’Sullivan said.
“We’re continually exploring new opportunities to continue contributing to the economic growth and prosperity of our region and the state.”
The wagons are being assembled nearby before being transported west to service a Central Queensland coal mine.
