Spinnaker Park gets a touch up
09 June 2017
Gladstone Ports Corporations (GPC) Spinnaker Park may look a little brighter and the footpaths a little smoother next time you visit.
The shelters located throughout the facilities have received a fresh coat of paint and the footpath is being resurfaced, in stages, as part of the parks planned maintenance.
GPC, Parks and Recreation Superintendent, Graham Gambie said that since opening in December 2000 the park, which was constructed from the 1990’s dredge material, has become a popular location for the community.
“Spinnaker Park is rarely empty with walkers filling the footpaths, birthday parties hosted in the shelters and the inclusion of Spinnaker Café allowing people a place to enjoy a coffee,” he said.
“It was timely to give the shelters a fresh coat of paint to restore them and increase their lifespan and the footpaths were in need of a resurface due to tree roots and wear and tear.”
Painting works are scheduled to be completed by the end of June with the path rehabilitation ongoing.
GPC thanks the community for their cooperation whilst these works are being undertaken.
