Trailblazers get creative for Gladstone’s Big 6

16 October 2017

Gladstone Ports Corporation are inviting trailblazers to get creative and win a guided tour of Gladstone’s Big 6 Discovery Trail at Spinnaker Park.

Schools are encouraged to collaborate and produce a poem featuring Gladstone’s Big 6 or at least one of the Big 6 tribes, Turtles, Cetaceans, Crustaceans, Shorebirds, Dugongs and Fish.

GPC Marine Scientist, Dr Megan Ellis, said that the Big 6 generates a great deal of interest from local schools.

“Throughout this program we have conducted many school visits, educating students on Gladstone’s Big 6 and what they can do to help protect these iconic animals,” she said.

“This competition gives schools the opportunity to get creative and potentially win a guided tour of Gladstone’s Big 6 Discovery Trail with me as your escort..”

The prize includes a bus for up to 50 students and staff, a guided tour of the Big 6 Discovery Trail and light refreshments.

Gladstone’s Big 6 is an education and awareness program where children can choose their favourite tribe to receive more information, stickers, a cap as well as access online activities and regular updates.

For more information about the competition, email the Community Investment Team to learn more about the program and to visit Gladstone's Big 6 website to sign up to your tribe.
