Due to the flood alert currently in place for the Fitzroy River and Port Alma, Maritime Safety Queensland has closed our Port Alma Shipping Terminal to trade shipping in the Port of Rockhampton. This closure is anticipated to be in effect until the flood waters recede and checks have been made to ensure all channels and berths are free from debris and damage.
The Port of Rockhampton is located 62 kilometres east of Rockhampton on the southern tip of the Fitzroy River delta.
Port Alma Shipping Terminal has three wharf facilities. Berths 1 and 2 are suitable for general cargo operations whilst Berth 3 is dedicated to tallow/fuel cargoes.
The Port Alma Shipping Terminal Information Handbook provides a detailed overview of the port’s services and facilities for ship's masters, agents and owners.
Last year Port Alma Shipping Terminal handled 227,268 tonnes of cargo, with over 60 vessels passing through the Port.
Ammonium nitrate throughput accounted for 39.6% of the total port tonnes in 2013/14. Other commodities included petroleum, explosives, tallow, salt container cargo and general cargo.
