Port to Park Race information

Course Overview

The event takes place in GPC’s parklands, highlighting all three areas — East Shores, Gladstone Marina Parklands and Spinnaker Park.

There are three race events for participants to choose from including the 10-kilometre Koongo Dash, the
5-kilometre Koommonka Sprint and the 3-kilometre Yallarm Family Run.

Race Pack Collection

To make sure you are race day ready, you will need to collect your race pack from the Port to Park Race Office.

Port to Park race packs include a disposable timing bib and a complimentary race t-shirt. You can view the sizing information here. Participants must bring their e-ticket and/or valid photo ID to collect their race pack. 

There are random prizes to be won at the race office!

The Race Office is located at the East Shores Conference Centre, above the Maritime Museum, 60 Flinders Parade, Gladstone during the following times:

  • Friday 14 August
    • 7:00am – 6:00pm
  • Saturday 15 August
    • 8:00am – 10:00am

Sunday 16th August – Limited bib collection available prior to race start for participants unable to collect on Friday or Saturday. Further details will be provided closer to the event.

All participants are asked to plan their trip and be at East Shores at least 30 minutes prior to your race start.

Road Closures

To ensure the safety of participants and the community, the following roads will be closed on event day:

5:30am – 10:30am | Flinders Parade
5:30am – 10:30am | Goondoon Street from Lord Street to Roseberry Street
5:30am – 10:30am | Pitt Street
5:30am – 10:30am | Central Lane from Lord Street to Roseberry Street
5:30am – 10:30am | Roseberry Street from Goondoon Street to Central Lane
5:30am – 10:30am | Lord Street from Goondoon Street to Glenlyon Street
5:30am – 10:30am | Bryan Jordan Drive
5:30am – 10:00am | Alf O’Rourke Drive from Bryan Jordan Drive to Spinnaker Park

Access to the Matthew Flinders Bridge will remain closed to all marine and vehicular traffic from 5:30am to 10:30am or until the last of the runners have returned to the East Shores’ finish line.

The Port to Park event will be held on Sunday, 16 August 2026. The 10km race starts at 6:15am, 5km race at 7:30am and the 3km race at 8:30am.  

Entries will be via online registration on the Port to Park
website.

Yes, you can use the same email address for multiple participants, however, each registrant must have a different password.

Each entrant acknowledges their entry fee is non-refundable should they not compete or the event is cancelled or changed by the Event Organiser due to reasons beyond the reasonable control of the Event Organiser, such as bad weather or safety reasons.

No, the family entry price has been designed to encourage families to participate together on the day in the same event.  Participants may however register and participate in both events. Please refer to the Event Terms and Conditions for further information regarding this and eligibility for prizes.

Participants are permitted to enter all of the events, however if the situation arises where a participant places 1st, 2nd or 3rd in more than one race, the participant will only be eligible to win the placing and claim the appropriate prize money of the longer distance race.

All events will be timed at the start and finish line by an electronic chip timing system. Line honours will determine the winners of each distance. Please refer to the Event Terms and Conditions. Net time will not determine the winners, but will be available to entrants approximately 24 hours post event.

Children, including children four and under, who are participating in anyof the events must be registered in the event. Children who are pushed in prams or strollers do not need to register unless you wish to purchase a toddler shirt. 

There is no age limit for the 10km event and we are aware many families will want to walk the full course together. It is up to the parent or guardian to decide if their child is capable of completing and enjoying the longer course.

Parking will be available in close proximity to the 10km, 5km and 3km start lines. An email detailing transport arrangements will be communicated to participants closer to the event. Please refer to the Race Information page for more details,

Children who intend walking the course must do so under the supervision of a parent or guardian and must be entered and wearing a race number. It is the right of the Event Organiser to remove any person not wearing a race number from the course. 

Yes, we encourage families to be involved and strollers are permitted.

No. This event is designed for running and walking participants only. For safety reasons bikes, roller-skates, roller-blades, rip boards and scooters are prohibited on the course.

No, due to safety regulations pets are not allowed on any part of the course. There is an exception for guide, hearing and/or assistance dogs which are permitted.  Please advise the Event Organiser if you have a guide, hearing and/or assistance dog attending with you.

In the event of poor weather conditions, the Event Organiser will determine if an alternative route can be used or any other action is needed. Participants will be notified of any changes via their registered email and will also be advertised via our website, Facebook and local media outlets.
