B2G Returns for 75th Race

November 23, 2022

With four months and two weeks until Australia’s second biggest ocean yacht race sets sail, naming rights sponsor Gladstone Ports Corporation (GPC) are gearing up for the races 75th anniversary.

Commodores, sailors and stakeholders are celebrating the official launch of the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht race at the Gladstone Yacht Club today.

The launch signifies the beginning of the planning journey for sailors before yachts set sail on a 300 nautical mile voyage in Easter 2023.

Marina Superintendent David Osmond said they are looking forward to welcoming the yachts, owners and crews back to Gladstone.

“Brisbane to Gladstone is the centre piece of our Easter celebrations here in Gladstone,” Mr Osmond said.

“Our Marina occupancy has doubled on the back of upgraded facilities and service in the last two years, and we’re looking forward to sharing our marina with race goers.

“GPC provides free mooring facilities to all entrants, access to all our fantastic facilities and a complimentary shuttle bus service.”

CEO Craig Haymes said GPC has always supported the race, heading into their third year as the naming rights sponsor.

“GPC is honoured to be playing a major role in such a historically important event, for not only our region but Queensland,” Mr Haymes said.

“We are excited to again welcome thousands of locals and visitors to watch the race from the best seats in the port city – our Gladstone Marina and East Shores Parklands.

“This is such an iconic annual event on the yachting calendar and the finish line continues to grow in popularity as a destination at Easter with the fantastic activities for all ages,” he said.

GPC looks forward to sharing more information on their support of annual Easter events such as The Harbour Festival and Easter in Gladstone in the New Year.
