CQ Shines Hospital Foundation is Port to Park 2024 Beneficiary

June 26, 2024

Central Queenslanders will be running, walking or skipping for a good cause on August 18, with CQ Shines Hospital Foundation announced as the community beneficiary for Gladstone Ports Corporation’s (GPC) Port to Park fun run.

CQ Shines will receive $80,000 to acquire a Teladoc telehealth system for Gladstone Hospital—an innovative technology enabling surgeons around the world to virtually assist our local medical teams in real-time.

The system will dramatically improve surgical outcomes, reduce some of the need for patient travel and provide immediate assistance during critical situations.

GPC CEO Craig Haymes said the Teladoc telehealth system will not only enhance the quality of medical services for locals, but will improve healthcare accessibility for everyone.

“GPC is proud to support such an exciting initiative that will help so many people in our region,” Mr Haymes said.

“GPC is excited to partner with CQ Shines Hospital Foundation to help bring an Australian first telehealth system to Gladstone,” he said.

“The $80,000 to CQ Shines reinforces GPC’s commitment to our communities in which we operate.”

CQ Shines Hospital Foundation Manager of Partnerships and Projects, Allira Mitchell, said the Foundation is dedicated to advancing healthcare and technology in Central Queensland.

“We are incredibly grateful to Gladstone Ports Corporation for selecting CQ Shines Hospital Foundation as a beneficiary of the Port to Park 2024,” Ms Mitchell said.

“This innovative technology brings national surgeons virtually to our local medical teams in real-time, significantly improving surgical outcomes and potentially saving lives.”

Mr Haymes said GPC’S Port to Park fun run will be an unforgettable event that will help raise valuable funds for a worthy cause.

GPC’s annual not-for-profit community fun run has provided more than half a million dollars to the Gladstone community since its launch in 2010.

The event will show case the port and waterfront parklands while offering enhanced vantage points and spaces for families and friends to enjoy the morning.

Race registrations are currently open.
